Lodi Dentist Improves In-Office Whitening Treatment

LODI, CA – Dr. Gary Silva, a leading Lodi cosmetic dentist, has added technology to improve the quality of his in-office whitening treatments.
Philips Zoom in-office teeth whitening is a system that uses highly effective bleaching agents and a special light to brighten a patient’s smile by up to eight shades in one single visit. Dr. Silva recently added a new Zoom whitening light to give patients optimal, uniform results.
“We are now able to control the light intensity, which results in both better bleaching and increased comfort,” Dr. Silva said. “This is excellent. More people are able to bleach their teeth without worrying about the post-bleaching sensitivity.”
Teeth whitening is one of the safest and most affordable cosmetic dental treatments available, Dr. Silva said. The Zoom whitening system has the power to erase heavy stains, including those caused by medicines. Once the whitening gel is placed on the teeth, the patient sits back in the chair as the gel is activated by the special light. In just a few 15-minute sessions, the patient can see drastic results in the shade of their smile.
Dr. Silva asks that patients have their teeth cleaned and polished before the whitening treatment to remove any plaque or tartar buildup. Patients also should be in good oral health and free of gum disease or dental decay when receiving the whitening procedure.
“Teeth whitening has become a very popular cosmetic dental treatment, and patients are constantly being bombarded with over-the-counter whitening options,” Dr. Silva said. “But only a dental professional can use a prescription strength product resulting in a natural-looking and beautiful smile that will last for years.”
Dr. Silva’s dental office provides state-of-the-art general dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, restorative dentistry, gum disease treatment, extractions, short-term orthodontics and even full-mouth rehabilitations. His office also works with a periodontist to place dental implants for patients with missing teeth.
Dr. Silva has extensive training in CEREC same-day crown technology. CEREC uses CAD/CAM technology to design and place crowns in a single day. Typical dental offices place dental crowns in two or three visits, but with CEREC technology, Dr. Silva can place a crown in about 90 minutes. The CAD/CAM technology allows Dr. Silva to perfectly match the crown with the patient’s smile and provide a more precise fit than traditional crowns.
The Lodi dental office also provides two revolutionary short-term orthodontic solutions, Six Month Smiles and ClearCorrect. Six Month Smiles is a procedure that focuses on the teeth in the mouth that need to be corrected, therefore greatly reducing total treatment time. Six Month Smiles uses tooth-colored brackets and wires thereby minimizing any display of “braces.” ClearCorrect uses clear aligners to move the teeth into a better position. The ClearCorrect aligners are removable and virtually invisible.
Dr. Silva had ambitions of becoming a dentist at an early age. He earned his undergraduate degree from University of California, Davis, and then his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1990. After dental school, he was accepted into the University of California, San Francisco Advanced Education in General Dentistry program and earned his AEGD degree in 1991.
In his nearly 25 years of practicing dentistry, Dr. Silva has worked with leading prosthodontists to study the art of dental restorations and cosmetic dentistry and trained in neuromuscular dentistry with world-renowned teachers at the Las Vegas Institute. Neuromuscular dentistry is the practice of correcting the function of the bite and jaw muscles to relieve issues like headaches, jaw pains (frequently referred to as TMJ).
